2015 Lexus NX 200t

Crossover Appeal. Luxury four-cylinder crossover.

  • MPG could be better
  • some turbo lag unless in sport mode

New for 2015, the Lexus NX 200t is a compact luxury crossover with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Designed as part of a general effort toward a sportier, more youthful image, the NX 200t is full of sharp creases and features the Lexus trademark "spindle grille." Inside, drivers will find an accommodating cabin full of buzzworthy tech features.

A backup camera, HD Radio, Apple device integration and traffic-and-weather updates all come standard, while the luxury package on our Matador Red Mica test car added wood trim, heated/ventilated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, a power tilt-and-slide moonroof and a power driver's seat.

Sharing some basic architecture with the Toyota RAV4, the front-wheel-drive NX 200t handles predictably but without sportiness. The turbo inline-4 engine is torquey and smooth, like much of its turbo four-banger competition from BMW and Mercedes. Power builds without much fuss and, while it doesn't shove you back in your seat like the turbo inline-6 option from BMW, it does provide efficient and confident passing power.

Warranty/Service: 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty, 6-year/unlimited mileage corrosion warranty
