Mazda was founded in 1920 as Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd, a Japanese corporation concerned primarily with the manufacturing of machine tools. A three-wheeled truck called the Mazda-Go was introduced in 1931, and by the 1960s, the company had turned almost exclusively to automobiles. Mazda received its first introduction to the United States in 1970, where it quickly found favor thanks to its unique designs and solid value. Today, Mazda remains a popular option with its wide range of well-priced compact cars, family sedans and SUVs.
