Allagash Black

Allagash Black has flavors of chocolate and coffee

Based out of Portland, Maine, Allagash Brewing has quickly become a go-to brand for Belgian-style creations.

Founder Rob Tod has crafted this Belgian-style stout with full-bodied, roasted-malt flavor along with generous additions of Belgian dark caramelized candy sugar that give this beer the full and silky mouthfeel typical of Belgian styles. Flavors of chocolate and coffee come through thanks to the variety of roasted malts used in production, which include German two-row barley, wheat and oats. Further adding to its Belgian heritage is the use of a Belgian yeast strain and re-fermentation in the bottle, which gives it a natural carbonation. Suggested food pairings are lamb burger, bleu cheese, ice cream and oatmeal raisin cookies. Like many other American craft breweries, Allagash is minimizing its carbon footprint by obtaining 100 percent of its energy from wind power.
