Dewar's Blended Scotch Whisky

Each blend in the Dewar's portfolio has a base flavor of honey with a touch of Scottish heather

The Dewar’s brand was founded in 1846 by John Dewar Sr. when he decided to open his own business.

That modest spirits business, with the help of John Sr.’s two sons John and Tommy, has since grown to produce the number one selling premium Scotch in the United States and the most awarded blended Scotch whisky in the world. Since its beginning in 1899, Dewar’s White Label blend has sported eight different label styles. The most recent reincarnation features a more curvaceous and aesthetic look with vibrant colors and an added wave.

Dewar’s sets itself apart in its own ways — including the employment of Master Blender Stephanie Macleod, one of few women in senior positions on the production side of Scotch whisky, and a process they call “double-aging.” By allowing the Scotch whisky a second maturation period, each batch’s individual flavors are able to further harmonize to achieve a well-balanced and smooth libation. Macleod carefully chooses the best whiskies from the many distilleries across Scotland to blend with the heart and foundation of each Dewar’s blend — Aberfeldy single malt Scotch.

Because Aberfeldy is a heather-honeyed Scotch, each blend in the Dewar's portfolio has a base flavor of honey with a touch of Scottish heather. As you work through the portfolio, though, the flavors and aromas become more complex and intense. Dewar's White Label provides a subtle vanilla and pear mixture, while the 12-year incorporates homemade toffee apples, fudge and citrus, and the 18-year features notes of fruit, almond and butterscotch. The Dewar's Signature blend is the most complex in the portfolio with the inclusion of the flavors of Scottish fudge, macademia toffee, coconut shavings, oak and caramel.
