Oregon Truffle Festival
The truffle industry in Oregon has remained under the radar for quite some time, but the annual Oregon Truffle Festival may change that through its celebration of the seasonal delicacies.
The multi-destination festival spans two weekends in January and takes place in Newberg, Yamhill Valley and Eugene. It features activities like truffle and wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, foraging for mushrooms and the Better Together: Black & White Dinner Series prepared by Portland's elite chefs. As part of the festival's effort to educate attendees about Oregon's production of the delicacies, there is a Truffle Growers' Forum where expert harvesters discuss truffle agriculture and marketing. Guests can also participate in a hands-on cooking class to hone their culinary skills, and compete in The Joriad North American Truffle Dog Championship, where they can witness harvesters and their dogs hunt for truffles.
