Tradition, history and a genuine passion for Indonesian and Balinese culture.
Located by the beach on the Bali Sea and surrounded by rice paddies, lotus ponds and tropical vegetation, Hotel Tugu Bali is a luxurious and private retreat. Each room is inspired by folklore and legends, and was personally created by owner Anbar Setjadibrata to showcase Indonesia's vibrant spirit and culture. A large collection of rare antiques and art enriches the experience of staying here. There are several dining chambers: suitable for festive gatherings, the crimson Bale Sutra and regal Bale Puputan draw on historical influences; the Black Chamber, decorated with antiques, masks and candles, offers a dramatic, intimate setting for two; and Waroeng Tugu is an outdoor restaurant that allows guests to enjoy a traditional, home-cooked Javanese or Balinese meal. The resident chef also passes on cooking lessons from her grandmother in a cooking class. Classes in floral arrangement, ancient herbal healing (Djamoe) and Balinese dance provide further opportunities to connect with the local culture. The Waroeng Djamoe Spa features treatments based on movements from dancing, Djamoe, Hindu mantras and other traditional practices.
