An Art Déco landmark on the Left Bank.
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS. A stone’s throw from St.-Germain-des-Prés and the heart of the Latin Quarter, and not far from the Seine and the Musée d’Orsay, this Left Bank, Art Déco landmark --- the first one of this genre in Paris, built in 1910 --- has always attracted writers and artists. Back in the day, Pablo Picasso, James Joyce and Josephine Baker were familiar faces here, and the sculpted façade, a Gustave Eiffel statue, paintings from artists who have stayed and exhibitions of paintings and sculptures vouch for this property’s continuing tendency toward the arts. Marble, gilt and red velvet grace the stately public areas, while the imposing entrance leads to the lounge, a bar known as a meeting place for artists and intellectuals, two restaurants (Brasserie Lutétia and Restaurant Paris) and conference rooms. The hotel boasts 230 well-decorated guest rooms including 60 junior suites and suites with an Art Déco atmosphere. The décor of the guest rooms is inspired by the Belle Époque era, and the large suites are done up in pink, with understated furniture and elegant bathrooms --- the overall look is very 1930s. The most remarkable suite, the Arman Suite, contains furniture designed by Arman himself, one of the most significant French contemporary painters and sculptors, whose works are featured in museums of modern art around the world. In addition, the hotel offers ten lounges and meeting rooms covering 1,200 square meters, a round-the-clock fitness center, 24/7 room service, a business center and free Wi-Fi access.
