An eighteenth-century mansion hotel in exclusive Mayfair.
Part of the Millennium Hotels & Resorts group, this property has always been popular with local embassies and consulates, owing to its splendid location in the center of Mayfair, overlooking beautiful Grosvenor Square. The main entrance is behind the square in Adam's Row, which leads down into a vast well of a main foyer dotted with huge velvet armchairs, flower vases and low chandeliers. Superior double rooms are spacious and well-equipped, many with separate seating areas and enormous bathrooms. Beds are comfy and amenities up-to-date. Avista, adjacent to the hotel, does mainly Italian dishes with a contemporary spin. The excellent Shogun Japanese restaurant has a great sushi bar, but when in Mayfair, it would make more sense to head a few streets over to Nobu, serving the finest sushi in London.
