An intimate property done in subtle English country style.
It would be very easy to walk past The Capital without noticing it, despite its excellent location a few steps from Harrods. Once you're inside, however, first impressions set the tone. You're welcomed into this intimate and personally run hotel by the doorman via a pretty front hall where a fire burns in the hearth on cold days. Individually designed bedrooms are delightful, mostly done in a subtle, pretty English country style; some of the rooms have a more masculine feel, with darker colors and sober oil paintings on the walls. Egyptian cotton bed linens, handmade mattresses, beautiful fabrics at the windows and on the beds, and lavish marble bathrooms with power showers, luxury toiletries and robes are all part of the package. Wireless Internet access is the latest high-tech addition. The Capital restaurant has always had an excellent reputation, and today, under the creative talent of Executive Head Chef Jérôme Ponchelle, its premium standards are well-maintained. The tea room is a great place to relax. Décor is by society stylist Nina Campbell and uses, to great effect, mirrors from Viscount Linley.
