This luxe resort on the Riviera Maya boasts distinctive original artwork and classes that bring guests closer to the local culture.
Protected by 200 acres of jungle on one side and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean on the other, the Maroma Resort and Spa is located on the pristine Riviera Maya coastline on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. The 63 rooms and suites are furnished with handpainted tiles, soft wool rugs --- both of which are made from the hotel's own workshops --- original artwork by former resident artist Bertrand Castelli, hand-loomed bedding and rugs and mahogany and leather furniture. The resort's signature restaurant, El Sol, serves Mediterranean-style cuisine with a Pre-Hispanic Mexican twist. The resort's spa, Kinan, offers various unique environments ranging from treatment rooms with private gardens, outdoor pavilion rooms in the Zen Garden and a rooftop tower treatment room with 360-degree views taking in the ocean and jungle. Guests can also enjoy the Caribbean by taking advantage of the hotel's services, including scuba diving, kayaking and swimming with the dolphins. The resort also offers Spanish language labs, cooking classes, nature walks and tequila lessons. If guests are lucky, they may also get a chance to meet the former artist-in-residence, Bertrand Castelli.
