A pleasant guesthouse, housed in an enchanting, early twentieth-century mansion.
An enchanting stone mansion constructed during the early twentieth-century, La Casona stands proudly on the corner of a leafy street in the Colonia Roma. A family owned and operated establishment, La Casona opened its doors in 1996, distinguishing itself as one of the city's first boutique hotels. Despite remodeling, the common areas of this historic structure retain the charms of the original construction, with cream-colored walls, stained glass windows, and polished floors. Individually decorated guest rooms are brightly colored and enhanced by nice details like rocking chairs, wooden headboards, and antique writing desks. Some of the furnishings and linens show their age, though the hotel has kept pace with contemporary trends by installing air conditioning, flat screen TVs, and wireless Internet into each guestroom. Located on the corner of Durango and Cozumel, this Roma neighborhood is one of the most pleasant in Mexico City, lined with trees and within walking distance from the Condesa and other popular neighborhoods. As there are very few guesthouses or hotels in the vicinity, La Casona is a notable exception.
