A private desert hideaway known for its pervasive luxury and refined recreation.
The timeless, serene Boulders completed a $30 million renovation in 2008, with another extensive upgrade and refresh in 2012. Returning guests will find more contemporary rooms and amenities, but the Sonoran Desert’s 12-million-year-old rock outcroppings still cradle accommodations and villas in a manner that promotes tranquility and solitude without disturbing the landscape. The 160 individual guest casitas offer unique accommodations with refreshment centers, wood-burning fireplaces, private patios or balconies and spacious bathrooms. All the standard amenities are here too. Pueblo Villas, ideal for families and girlfriend getaways, have up to three bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room/dining area, laundry facilities and a garage. Recreation includes golf, tennis, a festival-style marketplace, horseback rides, hot-air ballooning, mountain biking, Jeep tours, hiking, nature walks and rock climbing. The 33,000-square-foot luxury Golden Door Spa promises additional respite with whirlpools under boulders, a sizable fitness center, hydrotherapy, Vichy treatment rooms, a yoga studio, an outdoor pool with a cascading waterfall, a meditation labyrinth and its own café. Dining venues include The Grill, Bogey's at the Boulders Club, the Palo Verde, the Bakery Café, the Pool Pavilion and the Discovery Lounge. All feature organic, local produce, Southwestern décor and desert views.
