An old-school retreat in neighborly Cambria.
For anyone nostalgic for the good old days, this early 20th-century hunting lodge set on 25 wooded acres is a unique offering. The most recently renovated rooms are well-appointed and may have distant ocean views. There are gas fireplaces in most of the suites, while the rustic cabins, smaller suites and fireside rooms have real log-burning fireplaces. Some rooms and suites also have mini-kitchen facilities and sofabeds, and the largest deluxe suites sleep up to six people. Outside in the well-tended gardens, the vintage 1940s cabins are for those who don't mind roughing it a bit, and the 1960s poolside cabins have kitschy pine paneling and sometimes no bathtub. Massages are available at the modest day spa by the indoor pool, or you can unwind back in your room with cable TV, on-demand movies, and high-speed internet access (for an additional fee). The resort's restaurant serves classic American fare prepared with ingredients from the inn's certified organic garden, as well as California wines. This gay-friendly retreat offers conference rooms with full-service catering as well as a variety of live music every evening in the fireplace lounge. The property also welcomes pets.
