A rustic lodge with a prized location.
A beautiful drive north of Hearst Castle, the Ragged Point Inn is perfectly positioned on the coast between San Simeon and Big Sur. In the spring, the property is covered with wildflowers. The inn's low-lying hardwood buildings are perched on a clifftop bluff. There are 30 guest rooms, some of which have views of the Santa Lucia Mountains or the Pacific coast. Every room is simply furnished with a writing desk, coffee maker, and satellite TV (but no phone). Although some of the rooms are showing their age, the more luxurious ones have a kitchenette, whirlpool tub and gas fireplace. All of the downstairs rooms have patios, while those upstairs have balconies so you can fall asleep to the sound of the surf. A steep stairway leads down from the lodge to the beach and a private cove. There are also benches scattered around the lodge's walking paths for soaking up the scenery. The on-site restaurant is renowned for its fresh California cuisine, making the Ragged Point Inn a destination for weddings and small business groups, too. There are also a few artisan shops to browse on the premises.
