A daringly decorated bed-and-breakfast with a lively nightlife scene.
Built in the 1930s, this elegant boutique hotel (once owned by silent film star Lillian Gish) is tucked on a quiet street away from the bustle of Wilshire Boulevard. At first glance it appears to be little more than a quaint pension, but inside the vibrant color palette and bold design statements declare this property both innovative and unique. Juxtaposing the best of French and Far East styles, 44 guest rooms offer a whimsical feel with four-poster beds and unique decorative touches. Although the décor alone makes it worth a stay, amenities like DVDs, CD players and high-speed Internet access sweeten the deal. There's no pool, but guests are granted spa and swimming privileges at the nearby Mosaic, also owned by Gemstone Hotel & Resorts (and decorated by design guru Kelly Wearstler). A refined, cool and sophisticated crowd inhabits this unique property. One of LA's most discreet nightspots, Bar Noir, also hosts a monthly wine and cheese tasting event.
