A quaint luxury inn dedicated to good food and wine.
Built in 1929, this inn experienced a much-anticipated reopening in August 2004. Owner David Fink, of Carmel's highly acclaimed Bouchée restaurant and Cantinetta Luca, restored the property to reflect the mood of its European-style architecture and capture the village-in-the-woods feel of Carmel-by-the-Sea. There are only twenty guest rooms, each featuring original black and white photography by Helmut Horn. Rooms are spacious and bathrooms (some with soaking tubs) come with heated floors. All rooms have French windows. The property's attention to detail extends to the doorknobs, which are antiques. Downstairs, Aubergine, the twelve-table restaurant, is the perfect platform for highly personalized fine dining. The restaurant's impressive wine cellar sits below the inn's courtyard. Guests receive complimentary breakfast every morning. With a location just blocks from the bustling main drag, Ocean Avenue, L'Auberge Carmel is an easy stroll from shopping and additional dining experiences.
