A starring role made this inn famous among wine lovers.
Made famous by its appearance in the Academy Award-winning movie "Sideways," this two-story chain motel is one of the most reasonably priced options standing at the gateway to Santa Barbara's wine country. It's just off Highway 101, a few miles drive west of the Danish town of Solvang. You won't be able to miss it because of the kitschy theme windmill towering above the entryway. All of the 108 rooms have basic motel-style furnishings, with cable TV and coffee makers. Expect to hear some traffic noise from outside. Rates surprisingly include a small continental breakfast, daily newspaper and wireless Internet access. There's also a decently sized outdoor swimming pool and whirlpool tub, 24-hour self-service laundry machines and a billiards room and sports bar. Ask about discounts for extended stays, as well as golf packages. This place is a good value as long as you don't pay the top-shelf rates for weekend stays.
