Modest, family-friendly hotel right on the waterfront.
This low-lying hotel may not be as grand as some of the other properties in the high-end Four Points by Sheraton chain, but its prime location fronting yacht-filled Ventura Harbor is reason enough to stay here, especially for those planning on making a quick escape to Channel Islands National Park. All of the 175 rooms have spacious bathrooms, new beds with feather-down pillows, coffee makers and free wireless Internet access. Some also have fireplaces or oceanfront balconies with views. The junior suites have sofabeds and kitchenettes, making them a good deal for vacationing families. The overall atmosphere is sedate, though. There's an outdoor heated pool and whirlpool, in addition to nearby tennis courts. Expect to drive into downtown Ventura for most meals, as the hotel's on-site dining options are currently limited to just one restaurant and lounge.
