Groundbreaking lodgings in the category of rustic elegance.
This impressive, inviting lodge dates back to 1936, when luminaries such as Ernest Hemingway helped to bring Sun Valley into the limelight. It is considered the centerpiece of the Sun Valley Resort, which also contains the Sun Valley Inn, condominiums and cottages. Each season tends to draw its own type of crowd---families in the summer, ski groups in the winter and conference-goers in the spring and fall. Décor in the 148 guest rooms and suites is simple country in style, suiting the informal but stylish mood of the region quite well. Parlor Suites have sitting rooms and bedrooms, while Family Suites are perfect for large broods. Furnishings in all of the rooms are solid oak. If you’re a literary history buff, ask for the suite in which Hemingway wrote before he built his own home here. The bowling alley and atrium-style swimming pool area date to the lodge’s origins. You can enjoy a cocktail at the Lodge Pool after a day of skiing on Baldy or Dollar Mountains. The Lodge Dining Room is noted for its wine list. The outdoor evening ice show is a popular draw during the summer months.
