This family-owned hotel woos guests with its rich history and elegant Creole style.
There's a homey feel about this place, and for good reason. The owner, Frank S. Rochefort, Jr., lives on the premises. Opened in 1969, it's among the genre of local family-operated establishments boasting its own unique personality. The 88 rooms and suites are decorated with elegant mirrors, ceiling fans, bold colors and original artwork. Many also have balconies. Pop music fans should ask for the Paul McCartney Suite. The ex-Beatle and his family stayed at the hotel for two months in the mid 1970s while his band, Wings, was recording at Allen Toussaint's studio. The restaurant, between the courtyard pool and the bar, offers good, traditional breakfasts and a lunch menu of sandwiches and salads. The large, adjacent, self-service parking lot allows unlimited in-out privileges.
