A no-nonsense den of academia near the university.
The Wales House is a fully furnished, ten-bedroom home that has been welcoming guests since 1994. Its clientele tends to be faculty, scholars, researchers, physicians, parents of coeds and other visitors to the nearby University of Minnesota. Many stay for only a few nights at this historic, turn-of-the-century property, but others have checked in for up to a year. Over sixty-eight countries have been represented on the guest list, fostering a truly international community. Attractive antiques fill the rooms to create a warm and homey atmosphere. The public areas that are open to guests include an all-season porch, large front parlor, fireplace room, lounge, dining room and kitchen. Guests will find ample opportunity for socializing, although the majority of the conversations lean toward the academic.
