A massive chain hotel with a unique on-site art gallery.
Fresh from a $50 million redo, this 49-story hotel tower is one of the city's tallest buildings. The hotel sits on Canal Street across from the French Quarter. The vast sunken lobby with its huge sofas and body-hugging chairs acts as a combination lounge and sitting room. Among the renovated 1,110 guest rooms are 53 suites all featuring upgraded Sweet Sleeper bedding. The rooms are decorated in an understated blend of traditional and contemporary styles done in restful neutral tones. Wide windows provide sweeping views of the French Quarter and the Mississippi River. Club Room guests have access to extras such as their own lounge, breakfast and cocktail hour. Services include a pool, fitness center, business center, restaurant and bar. The hotel’s George Rodrigue Gallery is home to the Rodrigue Steinway Blue Dog piano, Blue Dog prints, an original Blue Dog painting on loan from the New Orleans Museum of Art and the only reproduction of "Victory on Bayou St. John," originally created for the WWII Museum, all located in a private gallery space.
