This ultrachic and playful property showcases the talents of famed hotelier Ian Schrager.
Designed by Ian Schrager, the man behind Miami Beach's Delano and West Hollywood's Mondrian, the Gramercy Park Hotel is as bold — and at times, bolder — than the city it calls home. This one isn't for the faint of heart. Hosting a fusion of design schemes, the lobby is furnished with hand-woven rugs and vibrant paintings. A revolving line of work from internationally recognized artists including Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Tom Wesselman brings splashes of color and high style. The 185 guest rooms offer European ambience through the use of Renaissance color palettes and unique art. The private roof club and garden is easily the hotel's best (and, save the rooms, most romantic) place to relax on a spring day in the city. Guests also enjoy access to one of NYC's most coveted spots: gated Gramercy Park. In-house Maialino restaurant is run by another legendary name in hospitality, Danny Meyer. After 10 p.m., reservations are a must at the Rose Bar. A 24-hour on-site gym rounds out the hotel's offerings.
