A Hell's Kitchen dazzler with terrific city and river views.
The InterContinental group got it right --- again --- at this property overlooking the Hudson. The hotel towers 36 floors above the city, and waterside guests enjoy a view that most Manhattanites would kill to have. Of course, the city views offer their own appeal. It's almost a shame that the hotel is named for Times Square --- the actual location is quite a bit calmer (and we think, more pleasant) than that bastion of neon. Most of the 547 guest rooms and four suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows. Standard rooms measure in at 350 square feet. The décor blends elements that are clubby, business-friendly and mid-century modern. In-room features include 42-inch HDTVs, iHome clock radios, touch-screen PCs and Wi-Fi for an additional fee. Celebrity chef Todd English heads up the kitchen at Ça Va Brasserie, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. For a quick and convenient light bite or a go-to spot for drinks, there is a lounge adjacent to the restaurant. And thanks to the array of ethnic restaurants in the area, guests have numerous additional dining choices. Those hoping to squeeze a workout into their business or on-the-town schedules will appreciate the well-equipped 24-hour fitness center.
