Mondrian brings its forward-thinking brand of cool to SoHo.
We waited a long time for the Morgans Hotel Group to set up camp below 14th Street ... and our patience was well-rewarded. With the opening of the Mondrian SoHo, Morgans spreads the stylish wealth the company has sprinkled through midtown at the Hudson, Morgans and the Royalton. This particular offering is the NYC sibling of Mondrian properties in Miami and L.A. And, like its older sibs, Mondrian SoHo's design is shot through with a seriously sexy vibe. Rooms are smallish, but feature floor-to-ceiling windows, über-plush beds, LCD TVs and iPod docking stations. The 270-room hotel was designed by Benjamin Noriega Ortiz. House restaurant Isola Trattoria & Crudo Bar draws its inspiration from the Amalfi Coast, Sicily and the Italian Riviera. Mister H, a stylish lounge with Chinese decorative accents is ideal for drinks and late night socializing, while Soaked takes guests above it all to the rooftop for expertly prepared cocktails during the summer season. There is also a fitness center and in-room spa services.
