A prime location for budget-conscious hipsters.
Billed as the travelers’ alternative to New York’s overpriced, undersized accommodations, this European-style hotel in Soho lives up to its reputation—although it would be wiser nowadays to claim its borderline location on the Lower East Side. Once upon a time, the area was a nabe of immigrants and pushcarts, but these days it’s a hipster haven with scores of bars, vintage shops and restaurants. The hotel is also a quick stumble away from the Bowery Ballroom, one of downtown’s hottest live music venues. Just a few of the services available include cheaper-than-normal airport car service and on-premises laundry service (both self-service and dry-cleaning). But the best facet of this place is undoubtedly the price. For reasonable rates, guests can enjoy a sizeable room, with some suites accommodating four adults. Smaller suites have shared bathrooms and kitchens. All rooms come with satellite TV and modem lines for Internet access. Wi-fi is available in the lobby and lounge.
