With its surprising pairing of hip and value, this hotel appeals to young budget travelers.
If those silhouettes from the iPod commercials were to design a hotel, this would be it. Each funky room here has an iPod docking station, complimentary Wi-Fi and an LCD TV. Formerly the not-so-trendy Pickwick Arms, this midtown east hotel is relatively near many major must-sees. And don’t let the economical prices deceive you --- this is no bare bones property. The staff is efficient and friendly, and some nice touches include a (seasonal) rooftop garden. Downstairs, check out East Side Social Club, which serves food and cocktails. The rooms are both comfortable and well-equipped. Accommodations range from singles without baths to studios (there are a total of eight) with refrigerators. Bathrooms tend to be small. Worried about security? Every room has a safe of some sort. If you want to step it up a notch, there are special “Odd Pods” including the Double Double, Townhouse and Veranda Pod.
