Modern architecture with Spanish accents.
Located directly on the River Walk, this hotel is a modern addition to the city's historic neighborhood --- it was built in 1999. It is a favorite with families who come for the convenient location and Westin Kids Club. This supervised children's program is a bonus for conventioneers who bring the kiddies along. Texas-sized guest rooms are decorated with a distinctive Southwestern flair. An earthy beige and brown color scheme provides the backdrop for cast-iron accents. Many of the 473 guest rooms and 65 suites feature private balconies overlooking the river; all are furnished with the kind of modern amenities expected from a downtown Westin. The hotel has two on-site dining options. Zocca serves Northern Italian cuisine, and Cafecito's coffee shop offers light breakfast, pastries and grab-and-go items. The pool bar is seasonal. La Merienda (a Latin tradition describing the transition from afternoon to evening) is celebrated in the lobby Monday through Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. and includes cocktails, sangria, margaritas, local beers, unique wines and complimentary crudités and specialty cheeses. Guests can enjoy Latin-inspired entertainment nightly.
