A rustic mountain hideaway for the serious skier in the rugged Wasatch Mountains.
Imagine a cabin getaway created by your grandmother---smoking is not allowed, and afternoon tea is accompanied by homemade baked goods set next to the fire in the lobby. This unpretentious classic ski lodge welcomes guests with an open lobby furnished with a large stone fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows and bookcases. It is often filled with skiers chilling out after an intense day on the slopes. This lodge is functional, a place for ski fanatics to crash before getting up to exhaust themselves all over again. The rooms here range from simple dorms to modestly furnished two-bedroom suites with fireplaces. Some have refrigerators; none have TVs. More than half of the accommodations share bathrooms down the hall. Free afternoon appetizers and microbrews in the cozy upstairs hole-in-the-wall bar are popular during off-slope hours. The Alta Ski Resort provides a backdrop for the outdoor pool and family-style dining room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner---as well as lift tickets---are included in all lodging packages. The lodge is closed during the summer months.
