Resting on a gentle hilltop, surrounded by verdant vineyards, The Louise is perhaps the most luxurious retreat in the heart of South Australia's Barossa Valley, a wine-growing region boasting some of the oldest vines in the world. Only 15 suites are offered, each featuring contemporary furnishings, spacious ensuite bathrooms with spa tubs and dual rain showers, king-sized beds with fine linens, and private courtyards. Some suites are outfitted with outdoor showers and fireplaces.
Modeled after the highly-regarded hospitality venues in France and Napa Valley,California, The Louise aims the spotlight on its restaurant and cultivated cellar, with the idea that luxurious accommodation is a complement to the food and wine focus. The property's award-winning restaurant Appellation, helmed by executive chef Ryan Edwards, features a menu of fresh seasonal fare from local producers and Appellation's own kitchen garden as well as a signature wine flight tasting menu paired with a selection of distinctive Barossa wines.
In addition to bringing the local flavors of Barossa Valley to its guests, The Louise also serves as a great base from which to explore the many prestigious wineries in the area. As for the grounds of the retreat, only a small swimming pool sits on the premises, and the minimalism of the retreat gives guests room to breathe in a relaxing setting.
