Andaz West Hollywood
A rock-and-roll landmark on the Sunset Strip.
Massive in size and raucous in reputation, this former Hyatt offers a sizzling hotel experience to touring rock bands, celebrities and tourists alike. This urban property is located on the Sunset Strip, steps away from The Comedy Store and the House of Blues. Led Zeppelin once partied hearty here on the eleventh floor while on tour, helping the hotel to earn the nickname "Riot House" or "Riot Hyatt." After a substantial redesign, it is now the first Andaz hotel in the U.S. and features 257 spacious guest rooms. Many offer floor-to-ceiling windows that provide interesting city views day and night (although street noise is discernible). There are mirrors everywhere in the rooms’ stark, simple but modern design, but no paintings. Instead of waiting in line at a front desk, guests are greeted by employees armed with laptops and glasses of wine in Riedel stemware, making check-in a pleasure. Room prices cover virtually all amenities, including local calls, Wi-Fi and even non-alcoholic beverages and snacks in the mini-bar; in addition, limited 24-hour room service is available for those desiring more sustenance. Free espresso and pastries are served mornings at reception. RH (Riot House) restaurant attracts more than just hotel guests with its farm-to-table California cuisine and unique architecture. The hotel's hot spot is the rooftop pool, which continues to be a gathering place for those in the know.
