Sparrows Lodge Palm Springs
An adults-only hotel reminiscent of a posh summer camp with a communal vibe and pet-friendly accommodations.
A former 1950s motel that has been taken down to the studs, Sparrows Lodge was rebuilt from the ground up and reincarnated as a hip and haute retreat. The owners, Doug and Josie Smith, are no strangers to Palm Springs. They sold their popular Tennis Club-area inn, the famed Korakia Hotel, and now divide their time between the desert and New Orleans. What they have created with their new 20-room venture is a posh, rustic resort with rusted tin roofs, built-in redwood furniture, an outdoor fire pit and a communal vibe with informal group activities, from tennis to horseshoes. The barn, in all its red glory, faces the swimming pool and houses a restaurant where complimentary breakfast is served. Pets are more than welcome, but the kiddies must stay home for holidays here.
