Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
Enjoy an African safari in the comfort of your hotel room.
It's not everyday you crawl out of a hotel bed, look out the window and come face-to-face with a giraffe. Outside of Africa, this can only happen in one place: Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Adjacent to the Walt Disney World theme park, the resort is set next to 33 acres of tropical savanna that's home to about 40 species of wildlife. More than 900 standard and deluxe rooms overlook three savanna areas as African animals graze just meters from the rooms. Intricate details, artwork, music and food immerse guests in its theme. The majestic five-story lobby, with its vaulted thatch-looking ceiling and huge tribal shield light fixtures, is alone worth a visit. Rooms are typical for deluxe Disney resorts with many king, queen and bunk bed lay-outs; but in this case, they are decorated with rich woods, vibrant colors and handcrafted Zimbabwe furniture. In addition to three casual dining options, the resort offers the upscale restaurant Jiko (Swahili for "cooking place") featuring creative cuisines from Africa and around the world. Free transportation is provided to all Disney attractions. If you've always wanted to go on an African safari, but Kenya seemed a tad far away, the compromise can be found at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.
