An excellent location, spacious accommodations and superb views.
Located a solid hour’s drive from Lihue airport, this hotel is both remote and secluded. With the exception of a few small stores and gas pumps, there are no supermarkets or department stores after you leave Kapaa. But once in the Princeville area, the expanse of mountain and sea reveals the beauty that brings people to this area. This resort is built into a steep hillside and offers dense tropical landscaping, stunning ocean views and eight tennis courts. It has one of the nicest swimming pools on the island, complete with a small sand beach and realistic waterfall. A 2011 fire damaged a resort restaurant (there are plans to reopen). Fortunately, the stunning views of the setting sun and Makana --- the rugged peak dubbed Bali Hai by Hollywood --- will forever be the same. The accommodations have tropical furnishings and range from hotel-style rooms and studios with kitchenettes to one-bedroom suites. The suites are more like condos, with full kitchens, washers/dryers and big-screen TVs.
