A North Shore go-to for businesspeople and proud university parents.
This former Omni was fully renovated in 2004, at which point it repositioned itself to be a leading hotel for meetings and events in the North Shore area. The $32 million upgrade to this 1923 landmark included a ninth floor conference center built to International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) standards. There is a dedicated elevator for special event guests, dedicated catering service, private dressing rooms for brides and a Grand Ballroom that retains such original details as a sweeping staircase and Italian cornice-work. Earth tones, ebony furnishings and original art highlight the 296 guest rooms and suites, including the Dean Suite, which has meeting and reception capabilities. In-room amenities cater to corporate types: oversized, ergonomically designed work areas with keyboard and mouse, two-line speakerphones and complimentary Internet access at the desks. And for relaxation: Aveda bath products and your choice of pillows. The Globe Café and Bar offers regional American cuisine highlighting American produce (cheese, wine, etc.) in a casual setting. Drinks are served on the ebony bar in the Indigo Bar and Lounge. Twenty-four-hour offerings include business and fitness centers. The hotel is 30 minutes from downtown Chicago and a short walk to Northwestern University, which makes it an especially popular destination for visiting parents.
