The legendary, neon pink "beginning" of Las Vegas.
The truth: Beldon Katleman's El Rancho Vegas was already a thriving casino before Flamingo partner Bugsy Siegel came to town. Still, you'll find vintage photos and a plaque honoring Bugsy, who wouldn't recognize the place these days. The 3,642 rooms and suites are nicely appointed and a great value in this price range. The rooms have undergone a mass remodel that brings most right in line with all the modern features found in upscale Las Vegas Strip lodgings. You can expect 42-inch flat-screen televisions and MP3 docking stations, as well as modern décor and furnishings. The 73,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space includes the Sunset Ballroom, which has a spectacular Strip view and holds up to 1,620 guests. Entertainment is in abundance with Donny and Marie and George Wallace. Among dining options is the Paradise Garden Buffet overlooking the beautiful wildlife habitat where Chilean flamingos, African penguins, Mandarin ducks and koi fish live surrounded by three-story-high waterfalls. Jimmy Buffet fans will love the Margaritaville Casino to go along with the same-name restaurant where boat drinks are endless. The Beach Club Pool offers a family-friendly environment with water slides and cabanas, while the GO Pool is all about adult-oriented fun.
