McMenamins Grand Lodge
Masonic grandeur with a funky Oregon twist.
First famous for their microbrews, the McMenamin brothers have become state treasures by purchasing venerable old buildings and transforming them into fun and comfortable works of art. This place is no exception. One look at this imposing, red brick, Greek revival building and you know your visit will be special. Built as a Masonic Temple in 1922, the Grand Lodge is now brimming with entertainment. There are plenty of places to hang out, from the movie theater to the popular tasting room. The brothers employ full-time artists, and the incredible mosaics and other works deserve hours of perusal. Accommodations reflect the building’s history, while at the same time the 77 guest rooms are comfortable and creatively decorated. Each room has its own sink, but bathrooms are down the hall. There are, however, suites available with private baths.
