These elegant cottages and manor house provide the perfect atmosphere after a day spent exploring the birthplace of American wine.

Located on the Barboursville Vineyards estate within a half-hour drive of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and James Madison's historical Montpelier, the 1804 Inn is a tastefully restored Georgian manor that showcases original features, from hand-hewn floors to discreet antique furnishings. Accommodations also include three freestanding cottages featuring elegant bedrooms and suites. Palladio Restaurant serves Northern Italian cuisine with an emphasis on regional produce and vintages from the winery, founded by Italian winemakers Gianni and Silvana Zonin in 1976. Whereas Thomas Jefferson's valiant efforts to cultivate wine on his nearby property were unfruitful, Barboursville is a success story. Adapting European varietals to New World terroir, it's one of the top wineries on the Monticello Wine Trail, considered the birthplace of American wine.
