The historic Manzana de Gómez shopping arcade enjoys new life as a high-end, European-style hotel.
Dating back to 1894, the building that houses the Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski La Habana is one of the most famous in Old Havana. Surrounded by World Heritage Site neighborhoods, it is the first international luxury brand to open in the city in decades. Style in the 246 rooms and suites could be described as tropical modern, with loads of white, tasteful gray accents and splashes of magenta. Amenities are plentiful: flat-screen TVs, work desks, laptop safes and coffee/tea makers. All rooms are non-smoking.
On-site Spa Albear by Resense sits on the sixth floor and features eight treatment rooms, thermal bathing areas and a relaxation lounge that would feel right at home on the French Riviera. San Cristobal Panoramic Restaurant specializes in seafood, and as its name suggests, it gazes over Old Havana. Confluencias serves a breakfast buffet and international flavors later in the day in a setting reminiscent of a Cuban Paladar, and El Arsenal Lobby Lounge and Bar offers indoor and terrace drinking and dining. In addition, Cuban cigars and rums are a highlight at Evocacion Tobacco Lounge. As for where to watch the sunset over the city, head for the rooftop pool and bar.
