Just around the corner from Les Champs-Élysées on Avenue George V, the Hôtel Fouquet’s Barrière is a luxurious urban retreat. This resplendent hotel was designed to attract a ritzy and hip clientele. Architect Édouard François did a remarkable job uniting five Haussmann buildings to create this elegant enclave. The 81 guest rooms including 31 suites, done by Jacques Garcia in a flashy palette of earth tones, resonate with a sense of posh intimacy. Some of the glamorous, sound-proof rooms (or suites) face the glorious Champs Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe; others view the Eiffel Tower. Cutting edge technology includes flat-screen televisions and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi. The Spa Diane Barrière by Shiseido offers an extensive list of treatments. The facility also features a pool, fitness room, sauna, hammam and exercise pool. Guests can enjoy a house cocktail or glass of Champagne at Bar Le Lucien or at L'Escadrille, and then savor French cuisine prepared by chef Jean-Yves Leuranguer at the gastronomic restaurant Le Diane or at the brasserie Le Fouquet's.
The haute Art Déco hotel entry is on the couture boutique-lined Avenue George V (opposite the new Louis Vuitton boutique) close to the corner of the Champs Elysées—where the original Le Fouquet's restaurant has been a Parisian landmark since 1898. When this assemblage of buildings encircling a courtyard opened in November 2006, it reportedly cost over half a billion dollars.
