Hôtel Particulier Montmartre
With just five suites this seductive hotel offers an intimate Parisian escape.
If you want to feel far away from the rush of the city, this is the place. Nestled on the hill of Montmartre, at the end of an alley behind a wrought-iron gate, this sumptuous residence was built during the Directoire era, just before the 19th century. With five stories, a bar, a terrace and a lounge on the ground floor, it contains only five suites, all customized by French avant-garde designers. Each has the dramatic feel of a stage set; for example, one displays huge pictures of faces and painted eyes on the ceiling. All include a king-size bed and a luxurious bathroom complemented, in some, by a private hammam. Planted with bushes and trees, the thoughtfully landscaped garden offers quiet refuge as well as a a turn-of-the-century pétanque court. The house restaurant serves seasonal cuisine and is open for dinner Wednesday through Saturday and for weekend brunch.
