Radisson Blu Hotel Champs-Elysées, Paris
Comfort and a generous offering of amenities in a former fashion landmark.
A chain once best-known for its budget lodgings (and the reliable but minimal comforts that come with such), Radisson has done a fine job of introducing a mid-level luxury brand: Blu. This particular outpost resides in the former Louis Vuitton headquarters, and while it’s certainly not in the design forefront, its style is pleasant and its amenities generous. Free Wi-Fi is one notable nicety, along with plasma-screen TVs, natural stone bathrooms, twice-daily housekeeping and soundproof windows. Business class rooms add complimentary English breakfast, in-room Nespresso coffee machines and sitting areas. The hotel’s location can’t be beat, meters from the Champs-Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe --- a view of the latter is the highlight of select guest rooms with balconies. La place restaurant serves classic French cuisine and offers al fresco dining during the summer months. Though not equipped for large conferences, the hotel does have a 30-square-meter meeting room that opens onto a private terrace. Smoking and non-smoking rooms are available, so be sure to state your preference in advance.
