Arte Luise Kunsthotel
Artist-designed rooms offer a fun (and sometimes wacky) Berlin escape.
Visitors have dubbed the Arte Luise Kunsthotel as “a gallery where you can spend the night.” And this hotel certainly satisfies art enthusiasts and travelers looking to experience something different. Guests here can sleep in a bed built for giants, in the company of astronaut suits, in a cabaret-style boudoir or in one of dozens of other fanciful spaces. The hotel’s older section, the renovated Bel-Etage, features spacious rooms and suites with wooden parquet floors and original doors and windows. The newer Modern Living section offers eco-friendly design, Mediterranean colors, oiled teak doors and matte-finish bamboo parquet. There is also the attic-level Mansard floor, with slanted ceilings and rooms reachable only by a historically preserved stairwell. Rooms are available with private baths, in-room showers or hallway-access showers. For the sake of variety, the hotel recruits new artists to redecorate each room every two to five years. Nestled in the heart of Berlin’s Mitte District with a view of the Reichstag building and just a short walk from the Tiergarten park, the hotel also has a spacious lobby, art gallery and Habel restaurant, serving German-Mediterranean cuisine. During the summer months, guests can dine outdoors on the courtyard terrace.
