Conacul dintre Vii
Simple, tasteful rooms and fresh local cuisine invite relaxation at this historic wine country retreat.
When you consider the art of winemaking, Romania may not spring to mind. But this diverse country has a major wine-producing region named Dealu Mare, which spreads across rolling sub-Carpathian hills on the same latitude as Bordeaux and Tuscany. In the heart of this unsung wine country, one hour from Bucharest, Conacul dintre Vii provides an elegantly rustic retreat in a manor house dating back to the 19th century. Twenty-two guest rooms and suites showcase the building's original architecture, and the wine cellar stocks homemade pickles, as well as barrels of wine on tap, ready for tastings. Fine cuisine is another highlight, relying on recipes of nuns from a neighboring monastery and incorporating organic ingredients from the garden.
