A comfy Kensington hotel with all the basics and great top floor views.
This mid-level hotel is a popular spot for airline crews on overnight stays. The staff is accommodating and very helpful with directions, maps and suggestions, while the location is perfect --- just off the High Street and a few minutes from the tube and Westfield shopping center. The hotel contains 833 rooms, and while there is admittedly little inspiration in the décor, all are comfortable and modern enough. If possible, ask for a room on a high floor on the west side of the building, thereby avoiding noise from the trains that run along the east side. Also, if you're looking for a little more comfort, inquire about inexpensive upgrades to executive class rooms. These top-floor spaces are somewhat larger than standards and offer excellent views over London’s rooftops, as well as access to a private lounge. Included in the executive level price is a generous continental breakfast; for a small surcharge you can get the more ample English breakfast. Be sure also to visit the in-house restaurant, Bugis Street, serving superb Indonesian and Singaporean fusion cuisine.
