Corus Hotel Hyde Park
Comfort just steps from Oxford Street and overlooking Hyde Park.
Housed in a 200-year-old Georgian building on a corner block, the Corus fuses traditional heritage with contemporary styling and facilities. The beautiful property is a block from the Lancaster Gate tube station on the Central Line, and just across the street from the Italian Gardens of Hyde Park. Although the hotel's website claims that the hotel is within walking distance of Oxford Street shopping, guests should put their hiking boots on if they plan on making that trek. While a tad on the small side, the 390, well-outfitted en-suite bedrooms are comfortable, with unexpected amenities such as extensive satellite TV, free Wi-Fi and Sony PlayStations. The hotel has recently installed air-conditioning into its rooms so guests can now comfortably sleep with the windows shut in summer. Be sure to ask for a room with views onto the park --- this alone can make the rates worthwhile. Also, ask about upgrades, which start from as little as £20. Guests regularly make use of the extensive concierge service, and partaking in the £8 English breakfast is well worth it.
