A mid-range hotel in a convenient, sought-after location.
Cranley Gardens is a friendly family-run hotel in South Kensington, which makes it handy for the many museums and vast strip of shops in nearby Knightsbridge. Originally four residential Georgian houses, the 85-room lodging (spread out across five floors) has been decked out in twee pastels and bamboo furniture to suit no-nonsense guests looking for a comfy bed and a decent bathroom. Rooms are sweetly decorated and contain built-in desks and TVs, with in-house movies available. All rooms have Internet access and en-suite facilities, some of which look out over private gardens. The restaurant is pretty, with swagged curtains and cane chairs, and there is a separate lounge area. A buffet breakfast is included in the room rate, and a full English fry-up is available for an additional charge. For workouts, a £15 fee will cover a day pass at LA Fitness, a fifteen-minute walk from the hotel; it is equipped with two large gyms, a swimming pool and spa.
