This iconic private members club and hotel welcomes travelers in trendy Chelsea.
No. 11 was one of London's first townhouse hotels and remains delightfully Old World with a clubby atmosphere. Set in a Victorian red brick terrace, the oak-paneled entrance hall leads to a warren of corridors and what can only be described as couture interiors. The 60 rooms and suites have beautiful silk furnishings, with the hotel owners paying special attention to the richness of the fabrics. Some rooms have four-poster beds, and rates include Wi-Fi or broadband connection, Molton Brown toiletries and homemade biscuits. The Garden Suite has a splendid, large drawing room with a grand plaster ceiling. Many rooms overlook the gardens. The public drawing room is well-furnished with antiques; it features a pretty conservatory off the back, and is excellent for tea in front of the roaring fire in wintertime. Complimentary homemade cake is offered at teatime, and sherry and canapés in the evening. In keeping with the pied-à-terre feeling, there is a chauffeured limousine service available. Most unusually in a small London hotel, there's also an excellent state-of-the-art gym. The hotel can arrange for a masseur to visit.
