A gorgeous twelve-suite hotel offering luxurious privacy in Mayfair.
This small all-suite hotel is typical of a new breed of townhouse that sprang up around the turn of the millennium all over London. Gone is the chintz and dried flowers. Instead, minimalism reigns, with the odd orchid being the only floral concession. Just off Regent Street, the entrance is a tiny door, so it comes as quite a surprise to find a much larger space within ... and then an open glass-sided staircase before you really arrive. There is no lift, but if you don't come with much more than a laptop (we were told this is true of most guests), it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Although there is 24-hour room service, all suites have fully equipped kitchens complete with starter grocery packs. Guests tend to come from the worlds of fashion and music, but this would be a good choice for any business traveler, as each suite has an impressive workstation with fax and Internet access. Despite the general air of understatement, comfort is not neglected, with fake sable throws on the beds, banks of pillows and open fires in the deluxe suites.
