Everything old is new again (and improved) at this charming South London hotel.
This old historic pub (dating back to 1840) has never looked so good. Thanks to a host of ambitious renovations, the former Tulse Hill Tavern has been reimagined as the Tulse Hill Hotel, introducing contemporary style and amenities into the 19th-century Victorian building it calls home. Easy to reach from Tulse Hill station, the nine-bedroom property is nicely positioned between Herne Hill and Brixton. Accommodations run from comfortable single rooms to large doubles appropriate for families, all including en-suite bathrooms, complimentary Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations and Freeview TV. Décor is warm and tasteful in stylish neutral shades with thoughtful details like luxury bedding, modern light fixtures and smartly upholstered headboards. A welcoming sense of hospitality, a lovely antique bar and an intimate on-site restaurant make it easy for guests to feel right at home. Breakfast is served daily, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The hotel’s dining room stays open throughout the day and into the evening to offer seasonal gastropub fare, cocktails, a nicely curated wine list and draught beer.
